Avoiding danger from underground services (HSG47)

HSG47: Avoiding danger from underground services is a publication outlining the potential dangers of working near buried services and how to reduce risks.

There are 3 main chapters in the guidance:

Planning the work:
Identify the site area and find out what buried services are possibly within the location before considering whether they are likely to be disrupted by the planned project. This can be done by carrying out a desktop utility search giving you relevant information about the site and our high quality reports mean you can quickly identify areas of concern.

Locating and identifying buried services:
Locate the assets identified and complete an on-site survey on the area, and at Premier Energy we can provide clients with a fully PAS 128 compliant survey. Using GPR and EML our survey team can identify and mark the services and confirm their status – ensuring you are following the HSG47 guidance.

Safe excavation:
Finally, HSG47 refers to safe evacuation. This means determining the method for excavating near underground services before work starts, taking account of site constrains, the status of the buried services and the ground conditions. Our consultancy service can ensure compliance with this, providing solutions and guidance with development projects.

The publication is aimed at all those involved in commissioning, planning, managing and carrying out work on or near buried services and we specialise in ensuring that all the work we are involved in complies with the guidance.

As stated above we provide a variety of services which assist with this publication.
