2016 has been a very busy year for Premier Energy. From developing new products and services to moving office, there has been little time to rest and take it all in.
However, in the lead up to the festivities and the New Year it is a good opportunity to reflect on 2016 and give you an insight into what Premier Energy are planning next year.
Moving house or moving office is one of the most stressful events that anyone can undertake.
I know our clients have to deal with this on a daily basis to make the experience as smooth as possible for their customers, and hats off to them. For us it about ensuring the finance, design, refurbishment, staff, layout and the move itself had as little impact on how we serve our clients as possible.
I am happy to say that from deciding it was the only way forward our business could grow, at an internal workshop in November 2015, to finally moving in on 3rd October 2016 the process has gone remarkably well and now we are in a building which is fit for our purpose, in a modern office space in Billingshurst, with better transport links and plenty of room to grow.
Our new office address is: Premier House, Daux Road, Billingshurst, West Sussex, RH14 9SJ.
Branding / Website
Premier Energy has been established for over 22 years, and in that time we have updated our logo three times. We are not a business that stands still and are constantly updating our look, products and services to deliver great customer service.
In the New Year, we will be launching our newest look, which will be focused on our online service offering. We see sustained and continuous growth for our “Utility Searches” products including our “Premier” record search and innovative “PALM” products and hope the new look with support our vision. This year we exhibited at Highways UK at the NEC in November 2016. The event showcased organisations who are involved in the planning, operation and future-proofing of the UK's road network.
We also attended Geo Business in May, one of the industry’s most important shows in the geospatial calendar. At each event we showcased out 'Utility Search' products, in particular our innovative PALM product, a layered map enabling you to see all of our Utility Record Searches in one, easy to use plan.
New Products & Services
As mentioned before, we are always looking to develop new products and services. This year has seen us extend our relationship with Groundsure to offer a retail sales option on our “Utility Searches” operation. Our innovative PALM product, which is going through its “International Patent” process, is continuing to be developed and as part of the A14 project for Highways England we developed a way of linking the PALM pdf with the actual utility responses contained in our reports. We pride ourselves on our charity efforts and, whilst it can never be enough, we do support Chestnut Tree House and other fundraisers such as Jeans for Genes day, Christmas Jumper days that our team can get involved with. We also support our clients each year with their own charity fundraising. Generally we aim to raise or donate between £3,000 and £5,000 each year.
As a company, we hold a company team event at least every quarter. One of these is obviously a Christmas party, which normally involves a secret Santa, turkey and all the trimmings and a little alcohol (at least on company time). We organise an end of year event in July, which provides a review of the financial year and a vision for the year to come at Premier Energy, which enables our whole team to reflect on their accomplishments and put forward ideas to grow our business. We also hold local event in March or April and September or October.
We have welcomed several new staff to our growing team this year including Nigel Hall as a Director (ex UKPN) ; Rebecca Franklin as our Office Assistant; Dominic McEvoy as a CAD Technician and Liam English as a Record Researcher. In the New Year, we will continue with a recruitment programme that matches the needs of the business and as mentioned, hope our fantastic new office will help in attracting the best candidates for the roles.
This year we celebrate another member of staff reaching their 10 years’ of service at Premier Energy; Justine Avis, who joined as our Receptionist / Office Assistant and is now our Office Manager. Justine joins a long list of people who have also been here over 10 years, all of whom I thank for their continued support and service.
Projects & Clients
We also have many clients that have regularly used us for over 10 years and I thank them for continuing to support and appoint us on their wide ranging projects. The list is long and they know who they are but just to mention a few very long established clients including St James Group, Bellway Homes; Cala Homes; Linden Homes; Redrow Homes; Taylor Wimpey and all those who are not mentioned. I understand and appreciate that without them we do not have a business, so thanks to them all for their continued custom.
We continue to be involved in some of the most spectacular residential developments in London and the South East but also in many others around the country through our Utility Searches services. Long may this continue and develop.
2017 and beyond?
Well, what’s in store for Premier Energy? All I can say is that we are not resting on our laurels. Along with a new look website and marketing material, we will be upgrading our reports to utilise some of the technologies emerging in the GIS world.
We will be looking to develop our staff, continue to improve the services offered and hopefully emerge stronger throughout these uncertain times ahead.
